Internet Things: Week of Jan 26
If you're an old subscriber, Welcome to my new home! I hope you stick around.
My name is Betsy, and I am Latina, who is chronically online and runs one of the few Latinx-owned creative agencies in Los Angeles.
Welcome to my brain dump.
Here are some things I saw/read on the Internet this week:
- Read: The New York Times writes about how marketing has become almost more important than the products themselves as "consumers have become active participants in the marketing of culture, posting and sharing content that is effectively promotional, even if not intended as such."
- Watch The Office Season 7 Extended Episodes. Let's be honest; we mostly comfort-watch shows nowadays, right?
- I have been saying for years that the United States is operating like an Oligarchy (it means a rule of the few), and Mother Jones is doing a series on how the rule of the Ultra-rich affects us.
What I've Been Doing When I'm Not Online:
- Journaling. I have been dumping things into a notebook including stickers, receipts and just creating memories of the good and bad days.
- Reading a book by First-Gen Latina about how to manage our money and the ideas about money that were probably passed on to us.
That's all for today! See you on the Internets!
